According to Greek mythology, Asteria was the Titan goddess. After the fall of the Titans, Zeus chased Asteria across the sky but she escaped him by transforming herself into a quail and leaping into the sea to become the island of Delos - the island which had fallen from heaven like a star. That's why we call Asteria the goddess of falling stars and nighttime divinations.
